Miss Simplee Sufficient - What is you 2011 NYE party plan?

What is your 2011 NYE party plan?

New Year's eve. My fondest memory was NYE 2006 being crowded with thousands of others at the Millenium Eye in London, feeling the ground tremble from the amazing firework show they put on. For most of us NYE is a night to remember. A night with our friends, dancing, singing, drinking and eating. Most of us don't really have to think it through and have a great night but there are a few little things one can remember to make it that fun, memorable and safe night out.
Location, location, location
Those magic words. What are we doing NYE 2011 and where are we going? Well, wherever you go, make sure you want to because there is nothing more souring to an evening than having to stand all night in a dark and dingy pub with grubby men, while actually you'd rather be sipping champagne in the Buddha Bar or Supper Club.
What will your party be like?

At your home or someone else's home

My first thought to keep people entertained till 12? Dinner party! Have a sit down dinner for smaller groups or a massive buffet for bigger groups. For those groups of friends who like it, play games! Charades, Apples vs Apples, Cranium. Before you know it, it midnight! It's the cheaper option of locations because you can stock up on bottles of wine and not have to pay per glass!

At the Club/Pub
Worst-case scenario - your entry is 60 bucks, they give you a glass of cheap champagne and make you pay through the nose for your other drinks the rest of the night.
If you opt for partying in a club or a pub, do a little research on price and what's included. Size of the club matters too. The bigger the club, the less likely it is you'll get free food and drinks.
But at a club you're guaranteed a night of music, dancing and fun!

At the hotel
Whether it's on the rooftop terrace or in one of the meeting rooms, decorated appropriately, it will be abundant with food and drinks. Usually you will pay for a package which includes a full dinner and a bottle of wine but it's a safe, cost-efficient option.
The only downside is that some hotels have a 'curfew' and your dancing might be cut short by the turning on off the lights. If you're not ready to go home yet, you'll be searching for another place to party, which is a downer.

At the square

Outside!
Up-side: lots of space, different parties, many people to party with, fresh air, a safe place to light up your fireworks.
Down-side: cold, potential rain, limitation on how many bottles of champagne you can take with you, no toilet!!

Wherever you go be aware of what kind of place it is, what their dress code is, what the audience will be. Drink responsibly, even in your own home, there is nothing more disturbing for people to see their host hanging their head in the toilet.

Whatever your NYE 2011 will be like, make sure you have fun. Make a toast on every good and fun thing you did in 2010, remember NYE 2010 and make sure this one is better. Be with your friends and family and if you cannot, make sure that you think of them while raising your glass with strangers!
